DCCC Faculty Achievements

Dr. Chuck A. Baker, Professor of Sociology, was presented the Eastern Region Award for ‘Outstanding Dedication and Service’ at the 53rd annual Pennsylvania Black Conference on Higher Education (PBCOHE) ceremony On March 24. Dr. Baker currently serves as the PBCOHE scholarship chair and has been a member of the organization since 2004.

Tanya Gardner, Associate Professor of Communication Studies, co-authored an article, “Just One More Thing on Our Plate that Makes it Undesirable to be around: African Americans’ Experiences during COVID-19” in the Howard Journal of Communications.

Gardner represented the College at the Eastern Communication Association’s 114 Annual Convention and participated in the panel “Innovative Career Preparation and Choices in Higher Ed Institutions from Graduating and Newly Graduated PhDs.”

Jeffrey LaMonica, M.Phil., Associate Professor of History’s article, “Crisis on the Southern Border, 1916,” was published in the spring 2023 edition of World War One Illustrated.
