The Muslim Student Association is planning events for after Ramadan, which ends April 20. The club meets on a biweekly basis in Room 1180 in the Student Center.
During the month-long Ramadan, fast from food and drink during the sunlit hours, cultivating self-control, gratitude, and compassion. Muslims spend extra time reading the Qur’an and performing special prayers. Those unable to fast, such as pregnant or nursing women, the sick, or elderly people and children, are exempt from fasting.
Salamatu Kamara, club president, said, “The MSA brings students together, teaches about Islam, and explains what the religion is actually about.”
Topics such as the principles of Islam and religion in general are discussed among the 40 members of the club. Kamara said anyone can join. For additional information contact skamara22@mail.dccc.edu or 215-986-7737.
