Delaware County Public Relations Department
(Oct. 11) Delaware County Health Department will have two free public flu shot clinics to be held in October. Flu shots will be available to all residents of Delaware County. The first clinic will be Oct. 16, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at 125 Chester Avenue in Yeadon. The second clinic will be Oct. 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at 1 N. Malin Road, Broomall.
The drive-thru clinics provide a safe and convenient process for residents to get vaccinated for the upcoming flu season. The intensity and severity of flu seasons are difficult to predict, and the effectiveness of the flu vaccine is dependent on many variables.
The U.S. CDC has found immunization reduces the risk of flu illness by 40-60 percent during seasons when most circulating flu viruses are well-matched to the flu vaccine. Each year, 200,000 people in the United States are hospitalized due to complications from the flu.
For more information or questions regarding the clinics please contact the Delaware County Health Department Wellness Line, available Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., by phone at (484) 276 – 2100 .
