Mental Health Awareness Month

Delaware County Public Relations Office

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and May 7-13 is National Children’s Mental Health Acceptance Week. National Mental Health Awareness Month is designed to create awareness and promote acceptance of mental illnesses and working to remove the stigma associated with mental illness.

The theme for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Month is identifying how the area we live in plays a significant role in residents’ health and well-being.

The theme for National Children’s Mental Health Acceptance Week promotes change in attitudes, behaviors, and systems, and how children’s mental health is viewed.

With early and effective intervention, people with mental health conditions can lead full and productive lives. DelCo Human Services and Office of Behavioral Health help residents access the services and resources they need to address the mental health needs of residents of all ages across the county.
