DCCC’s Educational Foundation will be awarding $600,000 in scholarships for the 2023-2024 academic year. The deadline for the applications is May 1 and the awards are announced by July 31 for upcoming fall classes. In addition to completing the scholarship application, students must register for Fall 2023 and complete a 2023-2024 FAFSA prior to the deadline to be considered.

Scholarships can be in the range of $200 to $5,000 with the majority of scholarships being between $500 and $1,000. The majority of scholarships are divided evenly between the fall and spring semesters.

Scholarships at DCCC are a collaboration between the Delaware County Community College Educational Foundation and Enrollment Management.  All scholarship essays are read and rated by faculty and staff from all areas within the College community. Kathy De Los Santos, Advancement Services Coordinator, said, “To ensure fairness to all applicants, the essays are randomly assigned for review and no information related to the scholarship applicant is provided to the reviewer.”

It is not mandatory, but students are encouraged to share something beyond their academic credentials. De Los Santos said information about school activities, future career goals and community service would help.

Students are also to write an essay for the application. The essay is the final question on the application and can be no longer than 300 words.  This year’s question is:  What is your passion? How will completing your degree or certificate at Delaware County Community College help you fulfill your personal and professional goals?

The application can be found at https://www.dccc.edu/admissions-financial-aid/financial-aid/scholarships. For additional information contact scholarship@dccc.edu.
