(Nov.17, Marple Campus) The DCCC Bringing in the Bystander workshop on combatting sexual assault will be held Nov. 29 at 2 p.m. via Zoom. Career Counselors Eileen Colucci and Bridget Panza will discuss the signs of sexual violence.
The program ecplores how to safely intervene before, during and after instances of sexual assault. Attendees can participate in group discussions and activities.
The Bringing in the Bystander workshop was developed by the Center for Disease Control and the National Institute of Justice. It takes a community approach to preventing sexual assault.
Christine Doyle, counselor and event coordinator, said, “Preparing students and staff to be active bystanders will help stop violence.”
The program is designed to create a culture of compassion at DCCC. Doyle said, “The tools learned at this workshop will help survivors heal.”
Above all, the counselor’s goal is to empower students. “I hope those who attend will feel inspired to make change.”
