(Oct 13) DCCC Counselors Tara Goodman and Lauren Grove will offer a “Screen Time” Zoom event to coach students on how to manage online classes on Oct. 20 at 11 a.m.

The event is to guide students through the benefits and challenges of online learning. Goodman said, “The goal is to provide resources about how to be successful and balance work outside of class.”

During the COVID-19 pandemic, online courses gained popularity at DCCC, inspiring Goodman and Grove to create this event to encourage student success.

Goodman explained that online learning can create unique challenges for students.

Goodman said, “I think not only is it difficult, but it can create stress for students who need structure.”

Online classes provide flexibility for students, but also require time management. Goodman said, “There is a common misconception that online classes are a smaller time commitment.”

Goodman and Grove do not want to deter students from taking online classes, rather to provide them with information that will help them succeed. Goodman said, “I think it is important to have the experience of taking online classes.”
