The College Wide Reading Program is to promote reading and thought-provoking discussion. Students can obtain a complimentary copy if they are required to read the book for a class or purchase a copy at the bookstore.

Dr. Brophy said they pick books that are relevant and readable. “On the tails of some of the most significant climate legislation. It was time to choose a book dealing with that subject matter.”

The College Wide Reading Program has been a staple at the college since 2003 after James McBride spoke about his memoir The Color of Water.

The College Wide Reading Program requires no meetings unless it is for coursework. It is a program for students to read at their leisure and challenge themselves to think about a topic that may not be addressed in other classes. There will be events throughout the semester that focus on the book’s theme.

Hana Creger will conduct an online climate Equity talk on Sept. 27. There will be a field trip to the American Philosophical Society Museum. and Dr. Atsuhiro Muto will be at the Downingtown Center.
