On March 3 Delaware County Community College celebrated the induction of its newest Phi Theta Kappa members.  Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society that recognizes the academic achievements of college students by offering scholarship, fellowship, and service opportunities.

This semester’s ceremony, honoring 44 inductees, was historical as DCCC chartered its second PTK chapter, Beta Psi Pi.  The college’s expansion of PTK makes Phi Theta Kappa resources available to even more students as this new chapter is active on the College’s Chester County branch campuses.

Beta Psi Pi’s charter included the induction of four officers: Blendar Namani, president, Brock Hanak, vice president, Michael Culin, secretary and Shane Zandotti, vice president of public relations.

This evening also included a welcome address by DCCC’s president, Dr. Joy Gates Black, and a keynote speech by Freddie Shegog, Alpha Tau Epsilon secretary and recipient of the ALL PA Academic Team scholarship, a merit-based award given to students pursuing an associate degree followed by a bachelor’s degree.

In attendance were Patti VanAtter, a Phi Theta Kappa regional representative in addition to Upper Darby Councilwoman  Danyelle Blackwell, several DCCC administrators and a host of PTK inductee family and friends.

The ceremony concluded with light refreshments and photos.
